Be Glad Your Nose is On Your Face

And other poems

We just checked out a book of silly poems as a family and many are just delightful. The collection, written by Jack Prelutsky with illustrations by Brandon Dorman, is called Be Glad Your Nose is On Your Face and other poems. It's filled with fanciful creatures, from frogs who take on human characteristics to the dragons and ogres you'd expect from a Prelutsky book, and features over 100 verses about everything from elephants to tigers, witches to dinosaurs and everything in between.

If you are homeschooling, this book is included in the Torchlight book list, which is where I heard about it, but it's really a great book of poetry to share with anyone in your life who could use a little more fun. "My Dog, He Is An Ugly Dog" and "The Frogs Wore Red Suspenders" are both hilarious poems, but there are briefer, more serious poems about everything from jellyfish to rain, as well. You'll have to read the poem about meatloaf to truly appreciate the book...!

Have you read any great poetry compilations lately? If so, share them in the chat.
