Double, Double, Toil And Trouble

Meet historical figures this Halloween!

Last weekend my family and I went to a Halloween event called Legends & Lanterns, during which you get to meet a number of villains, both from the real world and the literary world. My kid is all about cosplay and was so excited to meet Ichabod Crane, Vlad the Impaler, Lizzie Borden, Blackbeard and many other favorite characters. The Red Queen didn't attempt to behead any of us, but Lizzie sure did!

We ran across the three witches from Macbeth, which made me think of the poetry of Shakespeare's works while we were there and how many other characters could have been there from his pages, and my teen was the most excited to meet Mary Shelley, whom we affectionately refer to as the mother of monsters instead of Lilith, and my kid asked if she had Percy's heart in her purse. She answered yes! It made my teen's day.

Do you have any cool local events where you can meet poetic legends and historical figures? If so, share them in the chat!
